A full circuit around Dhaulagiri (8,167m) crossing the French Pass at 5,360m and the Dhaulagiri Icefall base.
The Dhaulagiri Circuit is among the most demanding and rewarding treks in the Himalayas. Over 17 days the trail completes a full circuit around Dhaulagiri (8,167m), the world's seventh highest peak, crossing the French Pass at 5,360m, passing beneath the Dhaulagiri Icefall and descending through the hidden Myagdi valley. The upper sections of the route are remote, high and technically demanding with glacier crossing sections and significant altitude exposure. There are no teahouses on the upper circuit: camping is required for several nights. It is a genuine wilderness trek that rewards experienced trekkers with landscapes found nowhere else in Nepal.
Travel to Pokhara by domestic flight (25 minutes) or tourist bus (6 hours). Overnight in Pokhara.
Drive to Beni, the district headquarters of Myagdi. Begin the trek along the Modi River. 3 hours.
