A hidden ridge trail with close views of Machhapuchhre, east of the Annapurna Sanctuary
The Mardi Himal Trek follows a ridge trail east of the Annapurna Base Camp route that most trekkers never hear about. The path climbs through rhododendron forest and terraced fields to a high camp at 3,700m, then pushes on to the Mardi Himal Base Camp viewpoint at 4,250m where Machhapuchhre (6,993m) fills the entire skyline. It is noticeably quieter than the ABC trail and runs parallel above it, offering a completely different perspective on the same range. A strong choice for a first Himalayan trek or for anyone returning to the Annapurna region who wants something new.
